At the end of November, world leaders will
meet at the UN climate talks in Paris. It’s a crucial moment, as negotiators
from more than 190 nations will gather to discuss a new global agreement on
climate change aimed at limiting greenhouse gas emissions from 2020 when
current commitments run out.
Inspired by
their faith, pilgrims from across the UK will come together to call on world
leaders to agree a fair, ambitious and binding climate change deal in Paris.
The Church
of England, Christian Aid, CAFOD and Tearfund have come together to organise a
Pilgrimage2Paris ahead of the UN talks. The pilgrimage will start in London on
Friday 13 November with a service at St Martin-in-the-Fields, and arrive in
Paris on Friday 27 November.
Kevin and
Ros have been training for the last few months to take part in the Pilgrimage
and are grateful to the members of Matson Baptist Church for releasing them for
the 2 weeks needed to walk the 250 miles.
They feel it is important to witness to God’s love and concern for the
Earth, humanity and all living creatures in this way, and see it as an
opportunity to join with others to pray, intercede, worship, and peacefully demonstrate
during this prophetic journey.
